Ottawa holds on for 5-4 win against Pembroke

The Pembroke Lumber Kings tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Ottawa Senators would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 5-4.

A goal by Luc Deschamps put Ottawa up 5-3 in the third period, but Pembroke pulled to within one on Charlie Connell's tally 19:43 into the third period.

Eric Clitsome was all over the ice for the Senators, as he tallied two goals in the win. Clitsome scored at 11:54 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Ottawa and again while 3:12 into the third to make the score 4-2 Ottawa.

Ottawa forced the Lumber Kings goalie Darren Smith to work between the pipes, taking 54 shots.

Ottawa also got points from Deschamps, who also had one goal and one assist. Ryan Collins also scored for Ottawa. Other players who recorded assists for Ottawa were Ben Robillard, who had three and Trevor Packard, Mike Martin, Chris King, Greg Jansz, and Derek Brown, who contributed one a piece.

Pembroke was helped by Emilio Audi, who racked up one goal. Audi scored on the power play 7:21 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Ottawa. The Lumber Kings had gotten the advantage when the Senators' Martin was sent off for interference. Pembroke also got a goal from Stephen Hrehoriak as well. In addition, Pembroke received assists from Cody Trowell, who had two and Ben Dalpe and Jordan Larson, who each chipped in one.

Alexandre Savard-Belanger rejected 20 shots on goal for Ottawa. The Senators incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Pembroke's Smith stopped 49 shots out of the 53 that he faced. The Lumber Kings incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
