Hawkesbury shrugs off penalties, upends Kemptville, 5-1North Grenville Municipal 1 Sun, Jan 13, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Kemptville 73s failed to take advantage of their power play opportunities and the Hawkesbury Hawks shook off a number of penalties to win, 5-1. Hawkesbury was led by Carl Faucher, who racked up one goal. Faucher scored short handed 12:41 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Hawkesbury. The Hawks played down a man on Jordan Kung's holding. Yanik Laliberte provided the assist. Hawkesbury racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with 10 minors and one major for 35 minutes in penalty time. The Hawks had been averaging 30.0 minutes in penalties per game. Hawkesbury made Kemptville's netminders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, finishing with 31 shots and forcing 26 saves. Billy Cooper made nine stops and Jacob Tugnutt made 17. Hawkesbury also got points from Roman Ammirato, who also finished with two goals and one assist. Hawkesbury also got a goal from Travis Meyer as well. Other players who recorded assists for Hawkesbury were Jean-Pierre Larmoyeux, who had two and Trent Durocher, Francis Landers, and Holden Anderson, who each chipped in one. The 73s struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as they finished the game with 23 penalty minutes for four opposing power plays. Kemptville was held back by its power play unit, which tallied one goal on nine chances. Jesse Blais also scored for Kemptville. In addition, Kemptville received assists from Cody Hendsbee and Brandon Seatter, who contributed one a piece. Nicholas Newport recorded 24 saves for the Hawks. For Hawkesbury, Justin Villeneuve was ejected from the game. The 73s ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Ryan Patulli was ejected from the game.
