Carleton Place holds on for 4-3 win against Nepean

The Nepean Raiders tried their best to erase a three-goal deficit, but the Carleton Place Canadians would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-3.

A goal by Anthony McVeigh put Carleton Place up 4-1 in the second period, but Nepean pulled to within one on Tanner Williams's tally 8:23 into the third period.

Alex Globke had one goal and two assists to lead the Canadians. Globke scored 4:51 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Carleton Place. Elias Ghantous provided the assist.

Carleton Place forced the Raiders goalie Matt Zawadzki to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots.

Carleton Place also got a goal from Garrett Moore as well. Other players who recorded assists for Carleton Place were Kevin Dufour, who had two and Luke Martin, Christian Weidauer, and Stephen Bayliss, who contributed one a piece.

Nepean was helped by Keenan Hodgson, who finished with one goal and one assist. Hodgson scored 5:05 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Dalen Hedges picked up the assist. Nepean additionally got points from Hedges, who also tallied one goal and one assist. More assists for Nepean came via Steven Johnston, Philippe Drouin, and Cameron Yarwood, who each chipped in one.

Brendan Oneill made 14 saves for the Canadians on 17 shots. Carleton Place incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Raiders' Zawadzki stopped 30 shots out of the 34 that he faced. Nepean incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
