Ottawa holds on for 4-2 win against Kanata

The Kanata Stallions tried their best to erase a three-goal deficit, but the Ottawa Senators would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-2.

Ottawa took a 4-1 lead during the third period, only to have Kanata storm back on a Reid Murphy goal 19:37 into the third period to pull to two goals down.

The Senators pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 14 penalty minutes.

Ottawa was helped by Justin Charbonneau, who registered one goal and one assist. Charbonneau scored 9:29 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Ottawa. Greg Jansz assisted on the tally. Ottawa additionally got points from Ryan Collins, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Jansz, who also had one goal and one assist, and Ben Robillard, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. In addition, Ottawa received assists from Joey Champigny, who had two and Eric Clitsome and Hunter Racine, who contributed one a piece.

The Stallions were led by Nic LaBurn, who tallied one goal and one assist. LaBurn scored 8:52 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Ottawa. JJ Hart picked up the assist. Other players who recorded assists for Kanata were Braedan Moffatt, who had two.

Charlie Millen rejected 28 shots on goal for the Senators. Ottawa registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Brandon Lane recorded 25 saves for Kanata. The Stallions incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
