Carleton Place downs Smiths Falls, 4-1

Alex Globke racked up two points to lead the Carleton Place Canadians to a 4-1 victory over the Smiths Falls Bears.

Carleton Place made Smiths Falls' goaltenders to work in net, firing 32 shots and forcing 28 saves. Patrick Martin made 18 stops and Jimmy Howe made 10.

Carleton Place additionally got points from Alex Frere, who also tallied one goal and two assists. Lucas Gonu also scored for Carleton Place. In addition, Carleton Place received assists from Devin Campbell, Kevin Dufour, and Stephen Bayliss, who contributed one a piece.

The Bears excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Smiths Falls did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Bears put an average of 3.9 pucks into the net per game.

Smiths Falls was led by Connor McLaren, who scored the team's only goal. McLaren scored on the power play 9:20 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Smiths Falls. The Bears earned a power play opportunity when Christian Weidauer was put in the box for unsportsmanlike conduct. Jesse Lussier assisted on the tally.

The Canadians' Brendan Oneill stopped 16 shots out of the 17 that he faced. Carleton Place incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Smiths Falls incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
