Brockville uses shootout to best Ottawa, 2-1 (1-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Brockville Braves defeated the Ottawa Senators in a shootout 2-1 (1-0 SO).

The shootout lasted for six attempts between the teams.

Brockville was led by goalie Andrew Pikul, who finished with 33 saves while allowing one goal. Pikul certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.67 entering the contest.

The Braves put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Ottawa to score on any of its four power plays.

Brockville was led by David Ferreira, who tallied one goal. Ferreira scored on the power play 3:54 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Brockville. The Braves had gained a power play chance when Michael Evelyn was whistled for tripping. Chris Roll assisted on the tally. In addition, Brockville received assists from Cory Wilson, who had one.

The Senators could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Ottawa averages 3.5 goals per game. The Senators' offense rang up 34 shots on Brockville's net.

Ottawa was led by Ben Robillard, who scored the team's only goal. Robillard scored 5:26 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Joey Champigny picked up the assist.

The Braves incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Charlie Millen made 27 saves for the Senators on 28 shots. Ottawa incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
