Nepean vanquishes Hawkesbury in shootout, 3-2 (3-2 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Nepean Raiders defeated the Hawkesbury Hawks in a shootout 3-2 (3-2 SO).

The shootout featured 15 attempts between both teams. Hawkesbury got shootout goals from Travis Meyer and Holden Anderson. Nepean's other shootout goals were scored by Cory Durocher and Zach Rodier.

The Raiders were paced by Brandon Watt, who registered one goal. Watt scored short handed 13:00 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Nepean. Nepean played down a man on Richard Therrien's hooking. Tanner Williams provided the assist.

In the losing effort, the Hawks were led by Meyer, who had two goals. Meyer scored the first of his two goals at 1:32 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Trent Durocher assisted on the tally. Meyer's next tally made the score 2-2 with 17:13 left in the third period. Durocher provided the assist.

The Raiders excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Hawkesbury was unable to stop Nepean from sending pucks towards the net, and the Raiders eventually piled up 44 shots on goal.

Dalen Hedges also scored for Nepean. More assists for Nepean came via Kenneth Neil and Durocher, who contributed one a piece.

The Hawks' offense rang up 44 shots on Nepean's net.

In addition, Hawkesbury received assists from Francis Landers, who had one.

Matt Zawadzki rejected 42 shots on goal for the Raiders. Nepean incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Carmine Guerriero recorded 41 saves for Hawkesbury. The Hawks incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
