Blasko leads Brockville over Carleton Place, 8-5

The Brockville Braves' Ben Blasko had a big offensive game, scoring one goal and contributing five assists in his team's 8-5 win over the Carleton Place Canadians.

Blasko scored on the power play 5:58 into the third period to make the score 8-4 Brockville. Brockville had taken the advantage when Carleton Place's Elias Ghantous got sent off for cross checking. Kevin Kirisits picked up the assist. Blasko dished an assist on Ryan Walter's goal that made the score 1-0 Brockville at 2:23 into the first period. He then added assists on Anthony Pino's goal at 8:13 into the first, on Zach Todd's goal at 15:01 into the second, on David Ferreira's goal at 1:06 into the third, and on Ferreira's goal at 5:44 into the third.

The Canadians were doomed by their poor performance on special teams, as the Braves were able to score four times while on the power play.

Brockville's goal total was higher than its season average. The Braves average 3.6 goals per game. Brockville got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Brockville additionally got points from Ferreira, who also registered two goals and one assist. Nathan Todd also scored for Brockville. More assists for Brockville came via Chris Roll, who had three and Shane Riddell, Taylor Henry, and Jay Kourkoulis, who each chipped in one.

Carleton Place forced the Braves goalie Andrew Pikul to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots.

The Canadians were helped by Tyson Stewart, who tallied one goal. Stewart scored 11:37 into the first period to make the score 3-2 Brockville. Jide Idowu provided the assist. Carleton Place also got points from Alex Globke, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Carleton Place also had goals scored by Devin Campbell, who had one and Luke Martin, who had two. In addition, Carleton Place received assists from Jackson Howe, Kevin Dufour, Lucas Gonu, Alex Frere, and Evan Peterson, who contributed one a piece.

Pikul rejected 28 shots on goal for Brockville. The Braves incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Brendan Oneill took the loss and made 17 saves before being replaced by Justin Laforest who made two saves. Carleton Place incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
