Kemptville squeaks by Hawkesbury, 3-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Kemptville 73s escaped with a 3-2 victory over the Hawkesbury Hawks.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Jacob Smith's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

Kemptville was paced by Smith, who had one goal and one assist. Smith scored on the power play 7:27 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Kemptville. A tripping penalty on Holden Anderson had put the 73s on the power play. Joey House picked up the assist.

Kemptville excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances.

Kemptville also got a goal from C Quinn as well. Other players who recorded assists for Kemptville were Jesse Blais, who had one and Cody Hendsbee, who had two.

Hawkesbury was helped by Brandon Bussey, who finished with one goal. Bussey scored 14:36 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Mac Blanchette assisted on the tally. Hawkesbury also got points from Francis Landers, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Hawkesbury received assists from Zach Car and Stefano Momesso, who each chipped in one.

Billy Cooper made 27 saves for the 73s on 29 shots. Kemptville incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Carmine Guerriero recorded 25 saves for the Hawks. Hawkesbury incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
