Kanata rides Lane to victory over Cornwall, 2-1

Brandon Lane had a standout game with 35 saves, and the Kanata Stallions beat the Cornwall Colts 2-1.

Kanata was led by JJ Hart, who racked up one goal. Hart scored 10:24 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Kanata. Fabian Walsh picked up the assist.

Kanata also got a goal from Braedan Moffatt as well. More assists for Kanata came via Niles Owen, who had two.

Cornwall managed to stay out of the box better than usual, racking up one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Colts ended up below its season average of 19.0 penalty minutes per game. Cornwall was held below its usual level of production. The Colts put an average of 3.7 pucks into the net per game. Cornwall forced the Stallions goalie Lane to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots.

The Colts were led by Michael Pontarelli, who scored the team's only goal. Pontarelli scored on the power play 12:15 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Cornwall had taken the advantage when Kanata's Walsh got sent off for tripping. Roman Ammirato assisted on the tally.

The Stallions incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. James Edwardson rejected 20 shots on goal for the Colts. Cornwall registered one goal on four power play opportunities.
