Kanata pulls away in second, rolls over Hawkesbury, 5-1Kanata Recreational Complex Fri, Dec 21, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Kanata Stallions used a three-goal second period to put away the Hawkesbury Hawks, 5-1. Kanata's Brandon Lane was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 33 saves and let only one puck past him. Lane certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.65 entering the contest. The Stallions' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Hawkesbury power plays. Hawkesbury was unable to stop Kanata from sending pucks towards the net, and the Stallions eventually piled up 50 shots on goal. Kanata was helped by Devin Fullum, who registered two goals. Fullum scored the first of his two goals at 5:17 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Kanata. Doug Harvey picked up the assist. Fullum's next tally made the score 5-1 Kanata with 3:08 left in the third period. Derian Plouffe provided the assist. Kanata additionally got points from Plouffe, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. Braedan Moffatt also scored for Kanata. More assists for Kanata came via Fabian Walsh, who had two and Curtis Watson, who had three. The Hawks forced the Stallions goalie Lane to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots. Kanata incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Carmine Guerriero rejected 45 shots on goal for Hawkesbury. The Hawks incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
