Ottawa hangs on, beats Nepean 4-2

Ryan Collins gave the Ottawa Senators the lead in the first period, and the Nepean Raiders was never able to catch up in a close game that ended 4-2.

A goal 4:08 into the the first period by Collins proved to be the game winner, and powered Ottawa to the victory Joey Champigny assisted on the tally.

The Senators' penalty kill excelled, as Ottawa gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

The Senators were paced by Hunter Racine, who grabbed one goal. Racine scored 18:32 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Ottawa. Eric Witzel provided the assist.

Ottawa stifled Nepean's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Ottawa also got points from Collins, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Ben Robillard, who also registered one goal and one assist. Luc Deschamps also scored for Ottawa. In addition, Ottawa received assists from Riley Hennigar, who had one and Greg Jansz, who had two.

The Raiders stifled the Senators' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Nepean was helped by Mitchell Herlihey, who registered one goal. Herlihey scored 14:50 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Ottawa. Dalen Hedges assisted on the tally. Nepean additionally got points from Hedges, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for Nepean came via Wyatt Trumbley, Kenneth Neil, and Phil Nasca, who contributed one a piece.

Charlie Millen made 21 saves for Ottawa on 23 shots. The Senators incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Ryan Mulder recorded 19 saves for the Raiders. Nepean ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. The Raiders ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Michael Vered was ejected from the game.
