Nepean wins tough contest against Cumberland, 4-2Navan Memorial Centre Sun, Dec 16, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The game between the Nepean Raiders and the Cumberland Grads was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Nepean emerged with a 4-2 win. The Raiders gained the winning advantage on a goal by Kenneth Neil 5:04 into the second period and hung on until final buzzer. Neil had one goal and two assists to lead Nepean. The Raiders forced Cumberland goalie Devan Tremblay to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots. Nepean also got points from Dalen Hedges, who also tallied one goal and two assists. Nepean also got a goal from Vincent Llorca as well. In addition, Nepean received assists from Stephan Beauvais, Wyatt Coghill, Mitchell Herlihey, and Michael Vered, who contributed one a piece. The Grads kept Nepean's goalie busy throughout the game, and Matt Zawadzki made 35 saves on 37 shots. Cumberland was helped by Trevor Packard, who registered one goal. Packard scored 7:59 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Nepean. Nick Martin provided the assist. Matt Allan also scored for Cumberland. More assists for Cumberland came via Andrew DeBrincat, Chris King, and Eric Clitsome, who each chipped in one. The Raiders incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Tremblay rejected 29 shots on goal for the Grads. Cumberland incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
