Carleton Place wins tough contest against Kanata, 4-3

The Carleton Place Canadians gutted out a close 4-3 win against the Kanata Stallions.

Carleton Place gained the winning advantage on a goal by Kelly Summers 13:03 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.

The Canadians were paced by Summers, who finished with one goal.

Kanata was unable to stop Carleton Place from sending pucks towards the net, and the Canadians eventually piled up 35 shots on goal.

Carleton Place also got points from Kevin Dufour, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Alex Frere, who also grabbed one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Carleton Place also got a goal from Christian Weidauer as well. More assists for Carleton Place came via Larry Smith, who had one and Alex Globke, who had two.

The Stallions forced Carleton Place goalie Brendan Oneill to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots.

Kanata was helped by Brandon Petrie, who racked up one goal. Petrie scored 1:29 into the third period to make the score 3-3. Devin Fullum picked up the assist. Teddy Suckow also scored for Kanata. In addition, Kanata received assists from Curtis Watson, Derian Plouffe, Connor Cobbold, and Brandon Lane, who each chipped in one.

The Canadians' Oneill stopped 30 shots out of the 33 that he faced. Carleton Place incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Brandon Lane made 31 saves for the Stallions on 35 shots. Kanata incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
