Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Cornwall Colts defeated the Carleton Place Canadians in a shootout 2-1 (1-0 SO). The two teams needed five turns to complete the shootout.Cornwall's Jordan Piccolino was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 40 saves and let only one puck past him. Piccolino certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.41 entering the contest. The Colts were led by Michael Pontarelli, who had one goal. Pontarelli scored 16:54 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cornwall. Mitch Zion provided the assist. In addition, Cornwall received assists from Roman Ammirato, who had one. Carleton Place's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Cornwall power plays. The Canadians did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Carleton Place averages 3.7 goals per game. Cornwall was unable to stop the Canadians from sending pucks towards the net, and Carleton Place eventually piled up 41 shots on goal. The Canadians were led by Lucas Gonu, who scored the team's only goal. Gonu scored on the power play 5:29 into the third period to make the score 1-1. Carleton Place had gotten the advantage when the Colts' Trent Durocher was sent off for hooking. Alex Globke picked up the assist. Cornwall incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Brendan Oneill rejected 24 shots on goal for the Canadians. Carleton Place incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
