Cornwall falls to Hawkesbury in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

The Hawkesbury Hawks' Carl Faucher scored 3:57 into overtime to beat the Cornwall Colts, 5-4 (OT).

Hawkesbury overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Hawks trailed 3-1 after a goal by Cornwall's Roman Ammirato at 15:08 in the second period. Hawkesbury tied things up at 4-4 on a goal by Faucher at 19:47 in the third period.

The Hawks got the win on the strength of a great game by Faucher, who had two goals and two assists.

Hawkesbury was relatively well disciplined in the game, receiving only nine minors and one major for 23 minutes in penalty time. The Hawks ended up below their season average of 32.0 penalty minutes per game. Hawkesbury forced the Colts goalie Jordan Piccolino to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots. The Hawks outdid their season average for goals scored. Hawkesbury has scored at the pace of 2.9 goals per game during the current campaign.

Hawkesbury also got points from Francis Landers, who also grabbed one goal and two assists and Pietro Antonelli, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Hawkesbury also got a goal from Antonio Roumeliotis as well. More assists for Hawkesbury came via Holden Anderson, who had two and Travis Meyer and Brandon Bussey, who each chipped in one.

The Hawks were unable to stop Cornwall from sending pucks towards the net, and the Colts eventually piled up 38 shots on goal.

Cornwall additionally got points from Michael Pontarelli, who also had two goals and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Cornwall were Mitch Zion, who had two and Carl Belizario, Andrew Ming, and Stephen Johnson, who contributed one a piece.

Carmine Guerriero recorded 34 saves for Hawkesbury. The Hawks registered two goals on five power play opportunities. Team's Mathieu Galipeau and Bussey were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Cornwall's Piccolino stopped 34 shots out of the 39 that he faced. The Colts totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 2-for-8 on the power play. For Cornwall, Billy Ulrick was ejected from the game.
