Cumberland outlasts Pembroke, 3-2Navan Memorial Centre Tue, Dec 04, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Cumberland Grads gutted out a close 3-2 win against the Pembroke Lumber Kings. Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Mark Golberg's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker. Cumberland was led by Golberg, who racked up one goal. Golberg scored 17:40 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Cumberland. David Higgs assisted on the tally. Pembroke was unable to stop the Grads from sending pucks towards the net, and Cumberland eventually piled up 44 shots on goal. Cumberland also got points from Andrew DeBrincat, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Cumberland also got a goal from Matt Allan as well. In addition, Cumberland received assists from Travis Douglas, Justin Pelock, and Sean Naish, who each chipped in one. The Lumber Kings' offense rang up 32 shots on the Grads' net. Pembroke was helped by Tyler Gaudet, who registered one goal. Gaudet scored 16:41 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Sam Gleason picked up the assist. Emilio Audi also scored for Pembroke. More assists for Pembroke came via Brendan Mcguire and Jordan Boucher-Gould, who contributed one a piece. Cumberland's Reilly Turner stopped 30 shots out of the 32 that he faced. The Grads incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Andy Munroe made 41 saves for the Lumber Kings on 44 shots. Pembroke incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
