Brockville beats Carleton Place 8-5 as Ferreira gets hat trick

A hat trick by David Ferreira was the highlight in Braves' 8-5 win against the Carleton Place Canadians.

Ferreira notched his first tally 1:51 into the first period. He then added goals at 16:11 into the first and at 8:12 into the second.

The Brockville Braves' goal total was higher than their season average. This season, Brockville averages 3.5 goals per contest.

Brockville additionally got points from Zach Todd, who also registered one goal and one assist and Ben Blasko, who also finished with one goal and three assists. Brockville also got a goal from Jonathan Power as well. In addition, Brockville received assists from Chris Roll, who had two and Cory Wilson, Brian Hennessey, and Griffen Molino, who contributed one a piece.

Carleton Place kept the Braves' goalie busy throughout the game, and Andrew Pikul made 29 saves on 34 shots.

The Canadians were helped by Kelly Summers, who grabbed three goals. Carleton Place also got points from Evan Peterson, who also racked up two goals and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Carleton Place were Alex Globke, who had three and Larry Smith, Garrett Moore, Luke Edwards, Alex Frere, Brock Edwards, and Stephen Bayliss, who each chipped in one.

Brockville incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Carleton Place's starting goalie, Brendan Oneill, made 18 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Justin Laforest, who stopped three shots. The Canadians incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
