Pembroke outlasts Carleton Place, 3-2Carleton Place Arena Fri, Nov 30, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Pembroke Lumber Kings gutted out a close 3-2 win against the Carleton Place Canadians. Neither team gained more than a one-goal lead, and Brendan Mcguire's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker. Mcguire had two goals to lead Pembroke to victory. The Lumber Kings' offense rang up 31 shots on Carleton Place's net. Patrice Wren also scored for Pembroke. In addition, Pembroke received assists from Tyler Gaudet, who had one and Jordan Boucher-Gould and Emilio Audi, who contributed two a piece. The Canadians excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Carleton Place was helped by Alex Frere, who finished with one goal. Frere scored on the power play 16:59 into the first period to make the score 1-1. The Canadians had gained a power play chance when Liam Biard was whistled for slashing. Alex Globke assisted on the tally. Carleton Place also got a goal from Kevin Dufour as well. More assists for Carleton Place came via Garrett Moore, Anthony McVeigh, and Evan Peterson, who each chipped in one. Darren Smith rejected 25 shots on goal for Pembroke. The Lumber Kings incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Brendan Oneill recorded 28 saves for Carleton Place. The Canadians totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. For Carleton Place, Stephen Bayliss was ejected from the game.
