Huge game by Carroll boosts Smiths Falls over Gloucester, 7-2

Jeffrey Carroll was all over the ice for the Smiths Falls Bears, as he tallied one goal and four assists in Smiths Falls' 7-2 win over the Gloucester Rangers.

Carroll scored on the power play 2:07 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Smiths Falls. A high sticking penalty on Chad Millett had put the Bears on the power play. Cameron Romoff assisted on the tally. Carroll dished an assist on Patrick Sexton's goal that made the score 1-0 Smiths Falls at 13:35 into the first period. He then added assists on Romoff's goal at 8:35 into the second, on Jesse Blais' goal at 26 seconds into the third, and on Romoff's goal at 14:56 into the third.

Smiths Falls excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Bears kept Gloucester's goalie busy throughout the game, and Dylan BrindAmour made 31 saves on 38 shots. Smiths Falls surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Bears average 4.1 goals per game.

Smiths Falls additionally got points from Romoff, who also finished with three goals and one assist. Adam Abu-Ali also scored for Smiths Falls. More assists for Smiths Falls came via Connor McLaren, who had four and Chris Maniccia, Yannick Crete, Peter Soligo, and Brett Costello, who each chipped in one.

The Rangers forced Smiths Falls goalie Patrick Martin to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots.

Gloucester was helped by Patrick White, who tallied one goal. White scored 15:58 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Shane Topf picked up the assist. Gloucester also got a goal from Christian Leger as well. Other players who recorded assists for Gloucester were Matt Rosebrook, Myckauly Melanson, and Miguel Laurin, who contributed one a piece.

The Bears' Martin stopped 31 shots out of the 33 that he faced. Smiths Falls incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Rangers incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
