Ammirato's goals lift Cornwall to 8-4 victory over KanataEd Lumley Arena Thu, Nov 29, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
Behind a great game by Roman Ammirato, who had two goals, the Cornwall Colts defeated the Kanata Stallions, 8-4. Ammirato scored at 17:02 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cornwall and again while on the power play 3:39 into the third to make the score 5-3 Cornwall.Kanata was unable to stop Cornwall from sending pucks towards the net, and the Colts eventually piled up 43 shots on goal. Cornwall bested its season scoring average. The Colts average 3.8 goals per game. Cornwall additionally got points from Michael Pontarelli, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Marly Quince, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Mitch Zion, who also finished with one goal and two assists, and Kevin Hope, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Cornwall also got a goal from Andrew Ming as well. Other players who recorded assists for Cornwall were Billy Ulrick, who had three, Carl Belizario, Trent Durocher, Jake Martin, and Brandon Howes, who each chipped in one, and Pierre Ouellette and Stephen Johnson, who contributed two a piece. The Stallions were led by Doug Harvey, who racked up two goals. Harvey scored the first of his two goals at 16:44 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Cornwall. Braedan Moffatt provided the assist. Harvey's next tally made the score 5-4 Cornwall with 14:47 left in the third period. A hooking penalty on Belizario had put Kanata on the power play. JJ Hart assisted on the tally. Derian Plouffe also scored for Kanata. More assists for Kanata came via Mike Zajac and Alex Stothart, who each chipped in one and Curtis Watson and Niles Owen, who contributed two a piece. Cornwall took out James Edwardson after he had made 11 saves and installed Jordan Piccolino in goal, where he finished with six saves and the win. The Colts incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Brandon Lane recorded 35 saves for the Stallions. Kanata incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
