Hawkesbury uses shootout to best Brockville, 5-4 (2-1 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Hawkesbury Hawks defeated the Brockville Braves in a shootout 5-4 (2-1 SO).

The shootout featured 18 attempts between both teams. Brockville's shootout goal was scored by Chris Roll. In addition to the clincher, Hawkesbury got a shootout goal from Brandon Bussey.

The Hawks saw a two-goal lead disappear, but was able to secure the win in a shootout. Hawkesbury made the score 3-1 on a goal by Pietro Antonelli at 17:36 in the second period. The Braves evened things up at 4-4 on a goal by Hayden Hulton at 5:36 in the third period.

The Hawks' goal total was higher than their season average. Hawkesbury has scored at the pace of 2.9 goals per game during the current campaign.

Hawkesbury additionally got points from Bussey, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. Other players who recorded assists for Hawkesbury were Antonio Roumeliotis, who had two and Mathieu Galipeau, Peter Kapelanski, and Travis Meyer, who contributed one a piece.

Brockville forced the Hawks goalie Carmine Guerriero to work between the pipes, taking 45 shots.

Brockville also got points from Ben Blasko, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Brockville also got a goal from Zach Todd as well. More assists for Brockville came via Roll, who had two and David Ferreira, Brett Garvey, Brian Hennessey, and Griffen Molino, who each chipped in one.

Carmine Guerriero made 41 saves for Hawkesbury on 45 shots. The Hawks incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. For Hawkesbury, Ryan Kruss and Stefano Momesso were ejected from the contest. Matthew Jenkins recorded 23 saves for the Braves. Brockville incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
