Smiths Falls' Crete deadly on offense in 3-1 win against PembrokeSmiths Falls Memorial Centre Fri, Nov 23, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
Yannick Crete was all over the ice for the Smiths Falls Bears, as he tallied two goals in Smiths Falls' 3-1 win over the Pembroke Lumber Kings. Crete found the back of the net 15:57 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Smiths Falls and again while short handed 12:17 into the third to make the score 3-1 Smiths Falls.The Bears' Patrick Martin was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 35 saves and let only one puck past him. The solid play of Martin will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 3.11. Pembroke's power play was ineffective against Smiths Falls' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded. The Bears stifled the Lumber Kings' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Smiths Falls also got a goal from Connor McLaren as well. More assists for Smiths Falls came via Tyler Akeson, who had two and Chris MacMillan, Jeffrey Carroll, and Patrick Sexton, who each chipped in one. Pembroke's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on seven Smiths Falls power plays. The Lumber Kings' offense operated below they season average. Pembroke puts an average of 3.5 pucks into the net per game. Smiths Falls was unable to stop the Lumber Kings from sending pucks towards the net, and Pembroke eventually piled up 36 shots on goal. The Lumber Kings were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 22 penalty minutes. Pembroke was led by Tyler Gaudet, who scored the team's only goal. Gaudet scored 10:32 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Keegan Harper picked up the assist. The Bears incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors. Andy Munroe made 24 saves for the Lumber Kings on 27 shots.
