Cornwall survives Kanata comeback, wins 5-3

The Kanata Stallions almost clawed their way back from a three-goal deficit, but the Cornwall Colts managed to pull out a 5-3 win in the end.

Cornwall led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Colts' Roman Ammirato's scored at 19:31 in the second period to put Cornwall up 4-1.

Michael Pontarelli and Marly Quince provided the spark for the Colts, combining for three goals and three assists. Pontarelli finished with two goals and one assist and Quince also notched one goal and two assists.

Kanata was unable to stop Cornwall from sending pucks towards the net, and the Colts eventually piled up 35 shots on goal.

Cornwall additionally got points from Ammirato, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Quince, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Cornwall also got a goal from Brandon Howes as well. Other players who recorded assists for Cornwall were Trent Durocher and Pierre Ouellette, who each chipped in one and Carl Belizario and Mitch Zion, who contributed two a piece.

The Stallions were led by Curtis Watson, who finished with two goals. Watson scored the first of his two goals at 19:59 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Cornwall. Connor Cobbold provided the assist. Watson's next tally made the score 4-3 Cornwall with 14:48 left in the third period. A goalie interference penalty on Billy Ulrick had put Kanata on the power play. JJ Hart assisted on the tally. Fabian Walsh also scored for Kanata. More assists for Kanata came via Derian Plouffe, Mac Howey, Joe Breslin, and Devin Fullum, who each chipped in one.

Jordan Piccolino rejected 21 shots on goal for Cornwall. The Colts incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Brandon Lane recorded 30 saves for the Stallions. Kanata incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
