Carleton Place beats Cumberland 7-3 as Edwards gets hat trick

The Cumberland Grads could not stop the Carleton Place Canadians' Luke Edwards, who tallied a hat trick in a 7-3 win.

Edwards notched his first tally 12:42 into the third period. He then added goals at 16:16 into the third and at 19:33 into the third.

Carleton Place's offense rang up 47 shots on Cumberland's net. The Canadians found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Carleton Place averages 3.8 goals per game. The Canadians cashed in on power play opportunities, scoring three goals on four chances.

Carleton Place additionally got points from Brock Edwards, who also registered one goal and four assists to lead the team in points. Carleton Place also got a goal from Luke Martin as well. Other players who recorded assists for Carleton Place were Elias Ghantous, Kevin Dufour, Jide Idowu, Luke Kasteel, Christian Weidauer, Stephen Bayliss, and Evan Peterson, who each chipped in one.

The Grads were helped by Travis Douglas, who racked up one goal. Douglas scored on the power play 16:27 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Cumberland. Cumberland had gotten the advantage when Carleton Place's Devin Campbell was sent off for tripping. Bobby Williams assisted on the tally. Cumberland also got points from Chris King, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Matt Allan also scored for Cumberland. More assists for Cumberland came via Alex Carlson, David Higgs, Nick Martin, and Zach Rodier, who contributed one a piece.

Brendan Oneill rejected 23 shots on goal for the Canadians. Carleton Place incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Devan Tremblay made 40 saves for the Grads on 47 shots. Cumberland incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
