Pembroke uses early goal to top Nepean, 4-2Pembroke Memorial Center Sun, Nov 18, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Pembroke Lumber Kings beat the Nepean Raiders, 4-2, in a contest where the winning goal was scored in the first period but the game remained close throughout. A goal 5:23 into the the first period by Stephen Hrehoriak proved to be the game winner, and powered Pembroke to the victory Jordan Larson assisted on the tally.Tyler Gaudet had two goals to lead the Lumber Kings to victory. Gaudet scored at 13:39 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Pembroke and again while 19:46 into the third to make the score 4-2 Pembroke. Pembroke excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Lumber Kings forced Nepean goalie Ryan Mulder to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots. Pembroke also got a goal from Colin Bradbury as well. In addition, Pembroke received assists from Timmy Moore, who had two and Charlie Connell and Liam Biard, who each chipped in one. The Raiders put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Pembroke to score on any of its four power plays. Nepean was helped by Steven Johnston, who registered one goal. Johnston scored 8:29 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Pembroke. Kenneth Neil provided the assist. Brandon Watt also scored for Nepean. Other players who recorded assists for Nepean were Dalen Hedges, Wyatt Coghill, and Alexander Vazquez, who contributed one a piece. The Lumber Kings' Darren Smith stopped 22 shots out of the 24 that he faced. Pembroke incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Ryan Mulder made 30 saves for the Raiders on 33 shots. Nepean incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
