Kanata rides Lane to victory over Ottawa, 2-1Kanata Recreational Complex Fri, Nov 16, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
Brandon Lane stood on his head and made 30 saves to lead the Kanata Stallions to a 2-1 victory over the Ottawa Senators. Kanata pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 14 penalty minutes. The Stallions were led by Brandon Petrie, who racked up one goal. Petrie scored 7:54 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Kanata. Derian Plouffe picked up the assist. Kanata excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. Alex Stothart also scored for Kanata. In addition, Kanata received assists from Curtis Watson and Reid Murphy, who each chipped in one. Ottawa stifled the Stallions' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Senators did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Ottawa averages 3.6 goals per game. The Senators' offense rang up 31 shots on Kanata's net. Ottawa was led by Ben Robillard, who scored the team's only goal. Robillard scored 2:22 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Luc Deschamps provided the assist. The Stallions registered zero goals on four power play opportunities. Alexandre Savard-Belanger rejected 22 shots on goal for the Senators. Ottawa incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
