Smiths Falls blows out Brockville, 7-1

The Smiths Falls Bears had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 7-1 win over the Brockville Braves.

Yannick Crete had a great game for Smiths Falls, netting two goals. Crete scored short handed at 16:55 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Smiths Falls and again while 12:31 into the second to make the score 4-0 Smiths Falls.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 5:04 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

The Bears found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, Smiths Falls averages 4.4 goals per contest.

Smiths Falls also got points from Chris Maniccia, who also registered one goal and three assists to lead the team in points and Karson McCartney, who also racked up two goals and one assist. Smiths Falls also got a goal from Chris MacMillan as well. More assists for Smiths Falls came via Daniele Disipio, Jeffrey Carroll, and Tyler Akeson, who contributed one a piece and Cameron Romoff and Patrick Sexton, who each chipped in two.

Brockville did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Braves average 3.3 goals per game.

The Bears' Jimmy Howe stopped 27 shots out of the 28 that he faced. Smiths Falls totaled 21 minutes in penalty time with eight minors and one major and went 1-for-5 on the power play. The Bears ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Adam Abu-Ali was ejected from the game. Matthew Jenkins recorded 19 saves for Brockville. The Braves totaled 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major and went 1-for-6 on the power play. For Brockville, Kevin Kirisits was ejected from the game.
