Gloucester beats Brockville 6-4 after comeback scare

The Gloucester Rangers survived a determined comeback attempt by the Brockville Braves on the way to a 6-4 win.

Gloucester made the score 6-3 on a goal by Chad Millett at 5:14 in the third period, and Brockville got as close as 6-4 when David Ferreira scored 18:36 into the third period.

In the losing effort, the Braves were led by Ferreira, who had two goals. Ferreira scored the first of his two goals at 6:08 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Shane Riddell assisted on the tally. Ferreira's next tally made the score Gloucester with 1:24 left in the third period. Griffen Molino picked up the assist.

The Rangers outdid their season average for goals scored. This season, Gloucester averages 2.8 goals per contest.

The Rangers were helped by Cory Durocher, who tallied one goal and one assist. Durocher scored 1:02 into the third period to make the score 5-3 Gloucester. Alexandre Boivin provided the assist. Gloucester additionally got points from Maximilian Veronneau, who also registered one goal and one assist, Boivin, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Millett, who also had two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Matt Rosebrook also scored for Gloucester. In addition, Gloucester received assists from Eric Ferguson and Keegan Rowe, who each chipped in one.

Brockville also got points from Ben Blasko, who also finished with one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Brockville also got a goal from Cory Wilson as well. Other players who recorded assists for Brockville were Owen Gill and Brett Garvey, who contributed one a piece.

Doug Johnston rejected 23 shots on goal for Gloucester. The Rangers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Cody Karpinski made 23 saves for Brockville on 29 shots. The Braves incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
