Millen leads Ottawa to shutout victory over KemptvilleJim Durrell Complex-Peplinski Sat, Nov 10, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
Charlie Millen made 29 saves to complete the shutout and led the Ottawa Senators to a 6-0 win against the Kemptville 73s. Ottawa pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 16 penalty minutes. The Senators were sparked by Greg Jansz, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Jansz scored on the power play 5:32 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Ottawa. Owen Werthner provided the assist. Ottawa's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on seven Kemptville power plays. The Senators' defensive effort looked to be improved. Ottawa averages 3.0 goals allowed per game. Kemptville was unable to stop the Senators from sending pucks towards the net, and Ottawa eventually piled up 47 shots on goal. The Senators' goal total was higher than their season average. Ottawa averages 3.8 goals per game. Ottawa also got points from Luc Deschamps, who also had one goal and one assist and Ben Robillard, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Ottawa also got a goal from Paul Landry as well. In addition, Ottawa received assists from Mike Martin, who had two and Justin Charbonneau, Marc Shanks, Riley Hennigar, Michael Evelyn, and Hunter Racine, who each chipped in one. The 73s could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Kemptville averages 2.3 goals per game. The Senators registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Billy Cooper made 41 saves for the 73s on 47 shots. Kemptville incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
