Pembroke boosted by Munroe's play in net, beats Kanata 4-1

Andy Munroe had a standout game with 37 saves, and the Pembroke Lumber Kings beat the Kanata Stallions 4-1.

Pembroke was led by Carl Greco, who registered one goal and one assist. Greco scored on the power play 3:45 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Pembroke. The Lumber Kings had gained a power play chance when Doug Harvey was whistled for high sticking. Liam Biard assisted on the tally.

Pembroke forced Stallions' goaltenders to work between the pipes, ripping 53 shots and forcing 49 saves. Brayden St-Germain made 42 stops and Brandon Lane made seven.

Ryan Erickson also scored for Pembroke. More assists for Pembroke came via David Fassbender, Brian Hennessey, Emilio Audi, Timmy Moore, and Owen McDade, who contributed one a piece.

Kanata did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Stallions put an average of 3.2 pucks into the net per game. Kanata forced the Lumber Kings goalie Munroe to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots.

The Stallions were led by Joe Breslin, who scored the team's only goal. Breslin scored 19:30 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Pembroke. Harvey picked up the assist.

Pembroke incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Kanata incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
