Ottawa survives Cumberland comeback, wins 4-3Jim Durrell Complex-Peplinski Wed, Nov 07, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Cumberland Grads tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Ottawa Senators held on for a 4-3 victory. A goal by Hunter Racine put Ottawa up 4-2 in the third period, but Cumberland pulled to within one on Matt Allan's tally 6:15 into the third period. Racine had one goal and two assists to lead the Senators. Racine scored on the power play 3:51 into the third period to make the score Ottawa. Ottawa had taken the advantage when the Grads' Yan Lagace got sent off for hooking. Owen Werthner provided the assist. The Senators' offense rang up 35 shots on Cumberland's net. Eric Witzel also scored for Ottawa. More assists for Ottawa came via Ryan Collins and Luc Deschamps, who contributed one a piece. The Grads were led by Eric Clitsome, who registered one goal and two assists. Clitsome scored 4:14 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cumberland. Justin Pelock picked up the assist. Cumberland also got a goal from Matthew Morin as well. In addition, Cumberland received assists from Jeremy Xatruch and Zach Rodier, who each chipped in one. Alexandre Savard-Belanger made 19 saves for Ottawa on 22 shots. The Senators incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Devan Tremblay rejected 31 shots on goal for Cumberland. The Grads incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
