Nepean outlasts Carleton Place, 3-2

The Nepean Raiders gutted out a close 3-2 win against the Carleton Place Canadians.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Michael Vered secured the win for Nepean with a goal in the third period.

The Raiders were sparked by Vered, who tallied one goal. Vered scored 18:56 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Nepean. Wyatt Coghill picked up the assist.

Nepean also got a goal from Keenan Hodgson as well. Other players who recorded assists for Nepean were Maxim Cote, Tanner Williams, Kenneth Neil, Steven Johnston, and Cameron Hughes, who contributed one a piece.

Carleton Place's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Nepean power plays. The Canadians forced Nepean goalie Matt Zawadzki to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots.

Carleton Place was helped by Luke Martin, who finished with one goal. Martin scored 5:53 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Carleton Place. Evan Peterson assisted on the tally. Alex Globke also scored for Carleton Place. In addition, Carleton Place received assists from Kevin Dufour, Luke Kasteel, and Alex Frere, who each chipped in one.

The Raiders' Zawadzki stopped 37 shots out of the 39 that he faced. Nepean incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Tony Kujava rejected 21 shots on goal for the Canadians. Carleton Place incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
