Pembroke blows out Gloucester, 5-1

The Pembroke Lumber Kings were firing on all cylinders against the Gloucester Rangers, and when the final buzzer sounded Lumber Kings emerged with a 5-1 win.

Gloucester was stymied by Pembroke netminder Andy Munroe, who stopped 30 shots during the victory. The solid play of Munroe will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.52.

Ryan Erickson had a great game for the Lumber Kings, netting two goals. Erickson found the back of the net 8:04 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Pembroke and again while 6:35 into the third to make the score 5-1 Pembroke.

Pembroke forced the Rangers' goaltenders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, launching 42 shots and forcing 37 saves. Gianmarco De Meis made 14 stops and Gunner Rivers made 23.

Pembroke also got points from Charlie Connell, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Brian Hennessey, who also grabbed one goal and two assists, and Emilio Audi, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Pembroke were Keegan Harper, who had three and Micheal Minns and Owen McDade, who contributed one a piece.

The Lumber Kings were unable to stop Gloucester from sending pucks towards the net, and the Rangers eventually piled up 31 shots on goal.

Pembroke totaled 23 minutes in penalty time with nine minors and one major and went 1-for-7 on the power play. For the Lumber Kings, David Fassbender was ejected from the game. Gloucester totaled 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major and went 1-for-8 on the power play. The Rangers ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Miguel Laurin was ejected from the game.
