Gloucester uses early goal to top Ottawa, 2-1

The Gloucester Rangers took the lead against the Ottawa Senators in the first period and maintained it until the end of the game to secure a tight 2-1 victory.

Matt Rosebrook provided Gloucester with the game-winning tally when he scored 6:47 into the the first period. The Rangers had gained a power play chance when Marc Shanks was whistled for boarding. Austin Romzek provided the assist.

Gloucester's Gunner Rivers was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 30 saves and let only one puck past him. Rivers certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.4 entering the contest.

The Rangers were led by Patrick White, who racked up one goal. White scored short handed 15:10 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Gloucester. Gloucester played down a man on Rosebrook's interference. Kyle Leduc picked up the assist.

Other players who recorded assists for Gloucester were Colton Keuhl and Samuel Quaranta, who each chipped in one.

Ottawa was held below its usual level of production. The Senators average 3.7 goals per game. Ottawa's offense rang up 31 shots on the Rangers' net.

The Senators were led by Ben Robillard, who scored the team's only goal. Robillard scored on the power play 4:13 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Gloucester. Ottawa had gotten the advantage when Gloucester's Alexander Sifton was sent off for head contact. Joe Shecter assisted on the tally.

The Rangers incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Charlie Millen recorded 16 saves for the Senators. Ottawa incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
