The Cornwall Colts beat the Nepean Raiders, 3-1, in a contest where the winning goal was scored in the first period but the game remained close throughout. Cornwall took over the lead for good with a goal by Roman Ammirato at 9:40 in the first period. The Colts had taken the advantage when Nepean's Tanner Williams got sent off for tripping. Stephen Johnson picked up the assist.Michael Pontarelli had two goals and one assist to lead Cornwall. Pontarelli scored the first of his two goals at 11:16 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Cornwall. Kevin Hope provided the assist. Pontarelli's next tally made the score 3-1 Cornwall with 2:05 left in the third period. Carl Belizario assisted on the tally. The Colts' Jordan Piccolino was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 32 saves and let only one puck past him. Piccolino certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.3 entering the contest. Cornwall excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in nine chances. The Colts forced the Raiders goalie Matt Zawadzki to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots. More assists for Cornwall came via Jason Suvak, who had one. Nepean did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Raiders put an average of 4.5 pucks into the net per game. Nepean's offense rang up 33 shots on Cornwall's net. The Raiders were led by Wyatt Coghill, who scored the team's only goal. Coghill scored 11:07 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Cornwall. Keenan Hodgson provided the assist. The Colts incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Zawadzki recorded 35 saves for Nepean. The Raiders incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
