Kanata outlasts Brockville, 4-2

The Kanata Stallions and the Brockville Braves were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Kanata made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-2.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Joe Breslin at 12:16 of the second period.

Derian Plouffe had a great game for the Stallions, netting two goals. Plouffe found the back of the net 3:37 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Brockville and again while on the power play 12:59 into the second to make the score 4-2 Kanata.

Brockville's power play was ineffective against Kanata's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

The Stallions kept the Braves' goalie busy throughout the game, and Cody Karpinski made 28 saves on 32 shots.

Kanata also got a goal from Nic LaBurn as well. Other players who recorded assists for Kanata were Devin Fullum, who had two and Cole Hutchinson, Curtis Watson, Reid Murphy, Fabian Walsh, Alex Stothart, and Brandon Petrie, who contributed one a piece.

Kanata was unable to stop Brockville from sending pucks towards the net, and the Braves eventually piled up 41 shots on goal.

Brockville was helped by Aaron Hickie, who tallied one goal. Hickie scored 7:13 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Brockville. Cory Wilson assisted on the tally. David Ferreira also scored for Brockville. In addition, Brockville received assists from Zach Todd and Ben Blasko, who each chipped in one.

The Stallions' Brandon Lane stopped 39 shots out of the 41 that he faced. Kanata incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Braves incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
