Smiths Falls rips Cumberland, 4-0Smiths Falls Memorial Centre Fri, Oct 26, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Smiths Falls Bears had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 4-0 win over the Cumberland Grads. Smiths Falls pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 20 penalty minutes. The Bears were paced by Jesse Blais, who racked up one goal. Blais scored 18:41 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Smiths Falls. Jeffrey Carroll picked up the assist. Smiths Falls put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Cumberland to score on any of its 11 power plays. The Bears kept the Grads' goalie busy throughout the game, and Reilly Turner made 33 saves on 37 shots. Smiths Falls also got a goal from Cole Allard as well. In addition, Smiths Falls received assists from Karson McCartney, who had two and Cameron Romoff, Patrick Sexton, and Patrick Martin, who contributed one a piece. Cumberland's offense operated below it season average. The Grads put an average of 3.0 pucks into the net per game. Patrick Martin made 21 saves for Smiths Falls on 21 shots. The Bears registered one goal on seven power play opportunities. Cumberland incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
