The Cornwall Colts took the lead against the Kemptville 73s in the first period and maintained it until the end of the game to secure a tight 3-1 victory. Carl Belizario provided Cornwall with the game-winning tally when he scored 12:06 into the the first period. A high sticking penalty on Ben St Marseille had put the Colts on the power play. Marly Quince provided the assist.Cornwall was sparked by Tanner Spink, who had one goal. Spink scored 4:50 into the third period to make the score 2-0 Cornwall. Andrew Ming assisted on the tally. The Colts put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Kemptville to score on any of its four power plays. Cornwall also got points from Quince, who also finished with one goal and one assist. More assists for Cornwall came via Nicholas Santoro, who had one and Mitch Zion, who had two. The 73s were led by Joey House, who scored the team's only goal. House scored short handed 6:39 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Cornwall. Kemptville was on a disadvantage when Matt Martin went off the ice for roughing. Brett Varrin provided the assist. Jordan Piccolino recorded 22 saves for Cornwall. The Colts incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Billy Cooper rejected 23 shots on goal for the 73s. Kemptville incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. |
