Nepean stifles Brockville's comeback, gains 4-2 victory

The Nepean Raiders came close to giving away a three-goal lead to the Brockville Braves, but did just enough to escape with a 4-2 victory.

Nepean led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Raiders' Kenneth Neil's scored at 11:40 in the second period to put Nepean up 3-0.

The Raiders were led by Steven Johnston, who finished with one goal and one assist. Johnston scored 30 seconds into the second period to make the score 1-0 Nepean. Dalen Hedges provided the assist. Nepean additionally got points from Neil, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Wyatt Coghill also scored for Nepean. More assists for Nepean came via Tanner Williams, Brandon Watt, and Andrew DeBrincat, who each chipped in one.

Brockville excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances.

The Braves were helped by Kevin Kirisits, who had one goal. Kirisits scored on the power play 15:00 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Nepean. A tripping penalty on Luke Scott had put Brockville on the power play. Nathan Todd assisted on the tally. Brockville also got points from Todd, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Brockville received assists from David Ferreira and Taylor Henry, who contributed one a piece.

Matt Zawadzki rejected 25 shots on goal for Nepean. The Raiders incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Matthew Jenkins made 19 saves for the Braves on 22 shots. Brockville incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
