Huge game by Marchand boosts Smiths Falls over Hawkesbury, 6-0

Nic Marchand had two goals and one assist to lead the Smiths Falls Bears to a 6-0 victory over the Hawkesbury Hawks.

Marchand's tallies came on the power play at 4:40 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Smiths Falls and 9:27 into the second to make the score 2-0 Smiths Falls.

Patrick Martin spearheaded the defensive effort for Smiths Falls, as he did not allow a puck past him and made 32 saves for the shutout. The solid play of Martin will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 3.5.

The Bears stifled Hawkesbury's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Hawks were unable to stop Smiths Falls from sending pucks towards the net, and the Bears eventually piled up 42 shots on goal.

Smiths Falls additionally got points from Yannick Crete, who also had one goal and two assists and Daniele Disipio, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Smiths Falls also got a goal from Ryan Eardley as well. More assists for Smiths Falls came via Chris Maniccia, who had two and Chris MacMillan, Nolan Trombetta, and Cole Allard, who each chipped in one.

Hawkesbury could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Hawks average 2.7 goals per game. Hawkesbury forced Smiths Falls goalie Martin to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots.

The Bears incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. The Hawks' Carmine Guerriero stopped 36 shots out of the 42 that he faced. Hawkesbury incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors.
