Cornwall downs Carleton Place in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

Kevin Hope gave the Cornwall Colts a 4-3 (OT) victory over the Carleton Place Canadians when he scored 1:29 into the extra period.

Cornwall almost relinquished a three-score lead. The Colts made it 3-0 on a goal by Billy Ulrick at 10:28 in the second period. Carleton Place pulled to within 3-2 on a goal by Luke Edwards at 1:35 in the third period.

Cornwall was paced by Hope, who registered one goal.

The Colts kept the Canadians' goalie busy throughout the game, and Tony Kujava made 27 saves on 31 shots.

Cornwall also got points from Michael Pontarelli, who also had one goal and one assist. Mitch Zion also scored for Cornwall. Other players who recorded assists for Cornwall were Carl Belizario and Tanner Spink, who each chipped in one.

Carleton Place was helped by Kelly Summers, who grabbed one goal. Summers scored on the power play 18:11 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Cornwall. The Canadians had taken the advantage when Cornwall's Ulrick got sent off for holding. Larry Smith picked up the assist. Carleton Place also got a goal from Kevin Dufour as well. In addition, Carleton Place received assists from Alex Globke, Brock Edwards, and Evan Peterson, who contributed one a piece.

James Edwardson made 26 saves for the Colts on 29 shots. Cornwall totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. For the Colts, Jason Suvak was ejected from the game. Carleton Place totaled nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. The Canadians ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Stephen Bayliss was ejected from the game.
