Kanata beats Nepean 5-4 after comeback scareKanata Recreational Complex Fri, Oct 19, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Kanata Stallions survived a determined comeback attempt by the Nepean Raiders on the way to a 5-4 win. A goal by Devin Fullum put Kanata up 5-0 in the second period, but Nepean pulled to within one on Vincent Llorca's tally 15:17 into the third period. Fullum had one goal and two assists to lead the Stallions. Fullum scored on the power play 11:42 into the second period to make the score Kanata. Kanata had gained a power play chance when Brent Norris was whistled for high sticking. Curtis Watson picked up the assist. The Stallions put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Raiders to score on any of their five power plays. Kanata also got points from Derian Plouffe, who also finished with two goals and one assist. Nic LaBurn also scored for Kanata. Other players who recorded assists for Kanata were Brandon Petrie, who had two and Fabian Walsh and Joe Breslin, who each chipped in one. Nepean's offense rang up 44 shots on Kanata's net. Nepean additionally got points from Dalen Hedges, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Steven Johnston, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Nepean also got a goal from Stephan Beauvais as well. More assists for Nepean came via Tanner Williams, Kenneth Neil, Phil Nasca, and Andrew DeBrincat, who contributed one a piece. Brayden St-Germain recorded 40 saves for the Stallions. Kanata incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Ryan Mulder took the loss and made 15 saves before being replaced by Matt Zawadzki who made six saves. The Raiders incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
