Hawkesbury takes care of Kemptville early, wins 6-1

The Hawkesbury Hawks opened up a four-goal lead after the first period and did not look back en route to a 6-1 over the Kemptville 73s.

Stefano Momesso had two goals and one assist to lead Hawkesbury. Momesso scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 17:03 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Hawkesbury. The Hawks had taken the advantage when Kemptville's Brad Vaughn got sent off for interference. Brandon Bussey assisted on the tally. Momesso's next tally on the power play made the score 6-1 Hawkesbury with 10:28 left in the third period. Jean-Pierre Larmoyeux provided the assist.

The 73s were stymied by Hawkesbury netminder Carmine Guerriero, who stopped 30 shots during the victory. Guerriero certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.7 entering the contest.

The Hawks excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Hawkesbury surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Hawks have scored at the pace of 2.8 goals per game during the current campaign.

Hawkesbury additionally got points from Holden Anderson, who also registered one goal and one assist and Pietro Antonelli, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Hawkesbury also got a goal from Antonio Roumeliotis as well. More assists for Hawkesbury came via Francis Landers and Carl Faucher, who each chipped in one and Ross Kovacs and Yanik Laliberte, who contributed two a piece.

Kemptville's offense rang up 31 shots on Hawkesbury's net. The 73s' penalty kill was ineffective, and let in two goals to the Hawks' power play unit.

Hawkesbury incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Billy Cooper took the loss and made five saves before being replaced by Charles Jensen who made 16 saves. Kemptville incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
