Carleton Place rips Brockville, 5-2

The Carleton Place Canadians had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-2 win over the Brockville Braves.

Brockville's power play was ineffective against Carleton Place's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

The Canadians stifled the Braves' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Carleton Place kept Brockville's goalie busy throughout the game, and Matthew Jenkins made 34 saves on 39 shots.

The Canadians were helped by Kevin Dufour, who finished with one goal and one assist. Dufour scored 5:15 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Carleton Place. Elias Ghantous assisted on the tally. Carleton Place also got points from Ghantous, who also registered one goal and one assist. Larry Smith also scored for Carleton Place. In addition, Carleton Place received assists from Alec Butcher, Brock Edwards, and Kelly Summers, who each chipped in two.

The Braves forced Carleton Place goalie Tony Kujava to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots.

Brockville was led by Zach Todd, who registered one goal. Todd scored short handed 2:17 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Carleton Place. The Braves played down a man on Ryan Walter's checking from behind. Brockville also got a goal from Ben Blasko as well. More assists for Brockville came via Erik Brown, who had one.

The Canadians' Kujava stopped 35 shots out of the 37 that he faced. Carleton Place incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Brockville incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. For the Braves, Walter was ejected from the game.
