Gloucester squeaks by Smiths Falls, 5-3

The Gloucester Rangers gutted out a close 5-3 win against the Smiths Falls Bears.

Gloucester gained the winning advantage on a goal by Jordan Gravel-Pilon 3:54 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.

The Rangers pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 20 penalty minutes.

Gloucester was led by Gravel-Pilon, who racked up one goal.

The Rangers put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Smiths Falls to score on any of its eight power plays.

Gloucester additionally got points from Patrick White, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Daniel Baslyk, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Cory Durocher, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Keegan Rowe also scored for Gloucester. Other players who recorded assists for Gloucester were Christian Leger, who had two and Kyle Leduc, Travis Meyer, Samuel Quaranta, and Stevie Ray Adams, who each chipped in one.

Gloucester was unable to stop the Bears from sending pucks towards the net, and Smiths Falls eventually piled up 40 shots on goal.

The Bears were helped by Michael Buonincontri, who registered one goal. Buonincontri scored 8:28 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Smiths Falls. Chris Maniccia provided the assist. Smiths Falls also got points from Connor McLaren, who also had one goal and one assist. Smiths Falls also got a goal from Nolan Trombetta as well. More assists for Smiths Falls came via Jesse Blais and Tyler Akeson, who contributed two a piece.

Gunner Rivers rejected 37 shots on goal for the Rangers. Gloucester registered one goal on two power play opportunities. Jimmy Howe recorded 18 saves for Smiths Falls. The Bears incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
