Carleton Place rides Kujava to victory over Kanata, 2-1

Tony Kujava stood on his head and made 28 saves to lead the Carleton Place Canadians to a 2-1 victory over the Kanata Stallions.

Carleton Place's penalty kill excelled, as the Canadians gave up zero goals despite allowing seven power plays.

Carleton Place was led by Kevin Dufour, who grabbed one goal. Dufour scored 4:30 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Carleton Place. Alex Globke picked up the assist.

The Canadians stifled Kanata's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Carleton Place forced the Stallions goalie Brandon Lane to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots.

Stephen Bayliss also scored for Carleton Place. Other players who recorded assists for Carleton Place were Elias Ghantous and Luke Martin, who each chipped in one.

Kanata's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Carleton Place power plays. The Stallions did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Kanata puts an average of 3.2 pucks into the net per game.

The Stallions were led by Curtis Watson, who scored the team's only goal. Watson scored 7:02 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Carleton Place. Reid Murphy provided the assist.

The Canadians incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Kanata's Lane stopped 34 shots out of the 36 that he faced. The Stallions incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
