Pembroke survives Ottawa comeback, wins 2-1

Pembroke Memorial Center    Sun, Oct 14, 2012

The Ottawa Senators tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Pembroke Lumber Kings would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 2-1.

A goal by Philippe Drouin put Pembroke up 2-0 in the second period, but Ottawa pulled to within one on Joe Shecter's tally 7:43 into the third period.

Pembroke was led by Drouin, who tallied one goal. Drouin scored on the power play 19:09 into the second period to make the score Pembroke. The Lumber Kings earned a power play opportunity when Greg Jansz was put in the box for too many men. Ben Dalpe provided the assist.

Pembroke excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in eight chances. Ottawa was unable to stop the Lumber Kings from sending pucks towards the net, and Pembroke eventually piled up 32 shots on goal.

Liam Biard also scored for Pembroke. More assists for Pembroke came via Keegan Harper, who had one.

The Senators did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Ottawa averages 3.9 goals per game.
