Ottawa downs Cornwall in overtime, 5-4 (OT)Jim Durrell Complex-Peplinski Wed, Oct 10, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
Greg Jansz gave the Ottawa Senators a 5-4 (OT) victory over the Cornwall Colts when he scored 1:01 into the extra period. Ottawa came back from a four-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Senators trailed 4-0 after a power play goal by Cornwall's Stephen Johnson at 8:30 in the second period. Ottawa knotted things up at 4-4 on a goal by Luc Deschamps at 4:41 in the third period. The Senators forced the Colts goalie James Edwardson to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots. Ottawa's penalty kill unit could not stop Cornwall's power play, which converted on three of five opportunities. The Senators were led by Ben Robillard, who grabbed one goal and two assists. Robillard scored 45 seconds into the third period to make the score 4-3 Cornwall. Ryan Collins provided the assist. Ottawa also got points from Collins, who also racked up one goal and two assists. Ottawa also got a goal from Joe Shecter as well. More assists for Ottawa came via Justin Charbonneau, Eric Witzel, and Michael Evelyn, who contributed one a piece. The Colts made Ottawa's goaltenders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, firing 34 shots and forcing 30 saves. Alexandre Savard-Belanger made 18 stops and Charlie Millen made 12. Cornwall's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Ottawa power plays. Michael Pontarelli also scored for Cornwall. In addition, Cornwall received assists from Marly Quince, who had two and Roman Ammirato, Tanner Spink, and Kevin Hope, who each chipped in one. The Senators incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. James Edwardson made 32 saves for the Colts on 37 shots. Cornwall incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. For the Colts, Billy Ulrick was ejected from the game.
