Smiths Falls wins tough contest against Hawkesbury, 4-2

The Smiths Falls Bears gutted out a close 4-2 win against the Hawkesbury Hawks.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Tyler Akeson at 10:08 of the second period.

Smiths Falls was led by Akeson, who racked up one goal and one assist.

Smiths Falls additionally got points from Connor McLaren, who also had one goal and one assist and Jeffrey Carroll, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Smiths Falls also got a goal from Chris Maniccia as well. More assists for Smiths Falls came via Yannick Crete, Jesse Blais, Nic Marchand, and Patrick Sexton, who each chipped in one.

Hawkesbury kept the Bears' goalie busy throughout the game, and Jimmy Howe made 31 saves on 33 shots.

The Hawks were helped by Stefano Momesso, who grabbed one goal. Momesso scored 8:08 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Hawkesbury. Jean-Pierre Larmoyeux assisted on the tally. Yanik Laliberte also scored for Hawkesbury. Other players who recorded assists for Hawkesbury were Carl Faucher, Brandon Bussey, and Holden Anderson, who contributed one a piece.

Smiths Falls incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Hawkesbury's Brock Crossthwaite stopped 21 shots out of the 25 that he faced. The Hawks incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
